Find out a little about Diamond…

Diamond Fernandes, BSc, ACSM CES ®, CSCS Founder and Director, Heart Fit Clinic

Diamond Fernandes founded Heart Fit Inc. in 2003. He has a passion for cardiac rehabilitation, maintenance and prevention. But where does this passion come from? Diamond’s father was just 38 years old when he suffered his first heart attack. This came shortly on the heels of Diamond’s uncle dying of heart disease at age 42. Coincidently, also at the age of 42, Diamond’s father underwent bypass surgery. The stark realization that heart disease was going to be a part of Diamond’s life sank in very quickly.

Diamond always had an interest in exercise physiology and the benefits of leading a heart-healthy lifestyle, but the fact that heart disease touched such a personal note for him spurred his enthusiasm and passion about opening a cardiac rehabilitation clinic.

“We offer the best service for helping people recover from heart disease, and because I know heart disease is the number one cause of death for men and women, we have brought on the most accurate screening tests for detecting your risk of a heart attack or stroke,” he comments.

Diamond graduated from the University of Calgary with a degree of Science in Exercise and Health Physiology in 1997. He is a certified Clinical Exercise Specialist through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), member of the Canadian Association of Cardiac Rehabilitation (CACR), Canadian Cardiology Society, American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR), Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology (CSEP), and the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.

Diamond possesses well over a decade of experience in the cardiac rehabilitation, and healthcare industry, and over that time his commitment to the field has grown. He has been featured extensively in the media as an expert on heart disease rehabilitation and prevention and is also dynamic speaker educating his audiences on various topics on heart health. Diamond has successfully helped thousands of Calgarians achieve a heart-healthy lifestyle while working for five years at the Cardiac Wellness Institute of Calgary and has successfully opened a cardiac rehabilitation clinic in Dubai, UAE. He was then recruited by the cardiology group in Kelowna to act as clinical manager for the Central Okanagan Association for Cardiac Health (COACH).
He now directs the successful Heart Fit Clinic to see his personal passion in helping people with preliminary or diagnosed cardiovascular disease live happier, healthier and longer.
